RSOP Essentials of Kayak + Canoe Training (photos)
On May 28, the entire St. Louis River Alliance team had an incredible hands-on kayak and canoe rescue training with Melody at the UMD’s Recreational Sports Outdoor Program.
We learned about the rules of the nautical road, safety gear, and rescue maneuvers. Everyone suited up and hopped in the cold water to practice cold water exits, the t-rescue, and how to clear water in a sunken vessel. It was an incredible opportunity to bond as a team before a very busy summer, and a reminder of why we love the work we do!
