Join River Revival, a monthly gathering exploring restoration, community connections, and the future of the St. Louis River. Meet May 21, 5–6:30 p.m., to learn about the Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study and manoomin restoration. Free, all ages welcome; snacks provided.
What's In Bloom Hike @ Spirit Mountain
Explore what’s blooming along the Superior Hiking Trail at Spirit Mountain during this guided evening hike. Learn about native plants, local restoration efforts, and the ongoing St. Louis River Area of Concern cleanup while enjoying a casual, 2-mile walk along Knowlton Creek.
Physics of the Paddle Blade: An Intro to SUP along the St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail (SLRE) with North Shore SUP
If you've ever been curious about Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) or haven’t had formal instruction, this free, beginner-friendly event is perfect for you. The class includes a combination of on-land instruction and on-water paddling time, creating a supportive learning environment for first-time paddlers.
Registration will open on Monday, June 1st with limited spots available.
River Revival: Restoration Celebration on Wisconsin Point
Celebrate restoration and community at Wisconsin Point! Join us July 16, 5–7 p.m. at the End Parking Lot for a free beach gathering featuring restoration partners, family activities, puppets, snacks, and a beach fire. Meet the people working to protect this special place. All welcome.
Earth Day Cleanup at Woodstock Bay
Join the St. Louis River Alliance on Wednesday, April 22nd from 2-4:00pm for a volunteer cleanup event at Woodstock Bay Public Landing in Superior, Wisconsin in celebration of Earth Day!

A River Resurgence: The return of Manoomin
Join the St. Louis River Alliance and partners on April 7 at Clyde Iron Works for a free community celebration of manoomin’s return to the St. Louis River Estuary. Hear from guest speaker Deanna Erickson, connect with local organizations, and learn what wild rice recovery means for the river’s future—plus enjoy free pizza.
Reception & Open Mic Night | The River Speaks: Art of the Estuary
Join the St. Louis River Alliance on Thursday, March 5, from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at Wussow’s Concert Café in Duluth for an evening celebrating art, music, and community inspired by the St. Louis River. Enjoy the opening reception of The River Speaks: Art of the Estuary and stay for an open mic of river-inspired poetry and song.
Ice Safety: River Connection Event
Stay safe and have fun on the winter river! Join us Feb. 7 at Munger Landing for ice safety lessons, snowshoe demos, a bonfire, hot cocoa, and updates on local restoration. Learn, explore, and enjoy the season.
Full Moon River Walk for Winter Out West
Bundle up and join the St. Louis River Alliance on Sunday, February 1st from 4:00-5:30pm for a guided Winter Walk along the St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail, in partnership with Health Equity Northland’s Winter Out West.
Call for Art | The River Speaks: Art of the Estuary
The St. Louis River Alliance invites artists and community members to participate in The River Speaks: Art of the Estuary, a community art exhibition celebrating the ecological, cultural, and personal connections to the St. Louis River. Hosted at Wussow’s Concert Café throughout March 2026, the exhibition features 2D artwork inspired by the river and concludes with an opening reception and open mic on March 5.
River Appreciation Party
Celebrate the St. Louis River with us Dec. 10, 5:30–7:30 PM at Clyde Iron Works. Meet fellow river supporters, enjoy cake and a cash bar, and pick up free Water Trail maps. Family-friendly, open to all, with door prizes including a Yakima Showdown rack!

Full Moon Gathering on Wisconsin Point
Join the St. Louis River Alliance and project partners for a free family-friendly evening of storytelling and celebration on Wisconsin Point.
Come explore the Bear Creek Trail, discover recent restoration projects along the Point, and hear Ojibwe stories under the full moon while gathered around a fire.
Open to all, bring your own chair and snacks.

This special gathering invites you to connect to the St. Louis River through shared stories and photography. Mark your calendars for free family-friendly activities, games, crafts, reflective prompts, Stories of the River, tea, a fire, and so much more!
Starry Skies @ Woodstock Bay (FOLSR Event)
The St. Louis River Alliance is excited to join the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve (FOLSR), Starry Skies North, DarkSky Wisconsin, and the Arrowhead Astronomical Society! Join us for an evening of wonder as we learn about the astronomy and the effects of light pollution, and appreciate our beautiful night sky together. This event is part of Starry Skies North “Celebrate the Night Sky Week” 2025.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will take place on Saturday, September 13 at 8:00pm.

Tuesday, September 9 from 8-1 p.m. Allouez Bay in Superior, launching from Wisconsin Point Lot 2 or Bunge Dock in Superior (location will depend on wind/weather)
Friday, September 12 from 8-1 p.m. Kingsbury Bay in Duluth, launching from Spirit Lake Marina (121 Spring Street, Duluth)
Volunteers will help distribute up to 750 pounds of wild rice seed at each site by canoe, supporting the ecological and cultural restoration of this important waterway. Space is limited to 10–12 volunteers per day, so early registration is encouraged.

We’re thrilled to announce that the St. Louis River Alliance is the GIVE! Round Up at the Register recipient for the entire month of September.
Piping Plover Work Day at Wisconsin Point Wildlife Sanctuary
Calling all volunteers! Join the St. Louis River Alliance on Friday, August 22nd from 4-7 p.m. for a volunteer cleanup day at the Piping Plover Habitat Site at the Wisconsin Point Wildlife Sanctuary. Come lend a hand however your schedule allows.
We will be handling non-local invasive species such as tansy, as well as piling up and removing woody debris along the shoreline. It will be a fun work day, with a site tour included.
Participants are encouraged to email Mikayla at watertrail@stlouisriver.org if they are interested in helping.

We’ll cover essential topics such as route selection, access points, gear recommendations, safety tips, and wind and weather considerations.

Community Paddle
Join our free, family-friendly Community Paddle! All non-motorized watercrafts are allowed (canoe, kayak, standup paddle board, etc.) and community members are encouraged to bring their own gear if they have it. The St. Louis River Alliance will provide 12 canoes, PFDs, and paddles for free to the first registered attendees in need of gear.
Come explore one of the newly designated routes of the stunning St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail and learn about the Area of Concern cleanup efforts that have made this area a safer place to recreate. Whether you’re a new or seasoned paddler, this trip is a fantastic chance to immerse yourself in the river’s breathtaking beauty.

Ecology Paddle
This beginner friendly paddling event will include a focus on River Ecology. UMD Recreational Sports Outdoor Program will provide gear and beginner paddle stroke instruction before getting the group on the water. The St. Louis River Alliance will provide a guided paddle as we explore the beautiful St. Louis River. This event is free and open to the public, with ages 8+ welcomed.
All gear will be provided including life jackets, canoes, and paddles. No prior paddle experience necessary!
Water Wednesday at Harrison Community Center (final event in the series)
Join the St. Louis River Alliance for a monthly series called ‘Water Wednesdays’ to swap stories with friends, community members, and harbor relationships around the river.
We will have coffee, fruit options, and donuts to enjoy! Only two Water Wednesdays left!
Biking the Cross-City Trail: An Area of Concern Tour
During this community ride we’ll explore the scenic beauty of the St. Louis River corridor while learning about remediation and restoration projects that have helped cleanup the river.
This event is free and open to the public. We will have limited gear available for use (bikes/helmets) for registered attendees, though we only have access to adult bikes. The community is encouraged to bring their own wheels if they have them.
Water Wednesday at Harrison Community Center
Join the St. Louis River Alliance for a monthly series called ‘Water Wednesdays’ to swap stories with friends, community members, and harbor relationships around the river. There are only two events left in the series, June and July!
Beginner Fishing Along the St. Louis River
Designed especially for first-time anglers, this program is perfect for beginners and families. No experience necessary! Come learn the basics of casting into the water, baiting your hook, fish identification, and more. This will be based on land and we will meet and park near Perch Lake Park Fishing Pier. Registration is necessary.
From River Bottom to Kitchen Table: Links in the Estuary Food Chain
**FREE, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Come learn how critters that live in our riverbed form the foundation of the food chain and how they are beginning to recover after the completion of several remediation and restoration projects. Hear reflections from a local resident on what fishing was like before the cleanup efforts began and the changes they've seen in the river since. Meet representatives of area fishing groups and fisheries managers and ask them your fishy questions, share fish tales, and learn about fishing opportunities in the estuary. Even if you don’t fish, the story behind this food chain will intrigue you.
Woodstock Bay Spring Cleanup
Join the St. Louis River Alliance on Wednesday, April 23 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for a volunteer cleanup event at Woodstock Bay Public Landing in Superior, Wisconsin in celebration of Earth Day!
