May River Revival: The Importance of Manoomin (Wild Rice) & Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study Updates
What’s happening on the St. Louis River right now? Join us for our new River Revival event series, a monthly gathering to learn about the river, ongoing restoration at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay, and ways to connect with this special place. Join our next gathering on Thursday, May 21 from 5-6:30 p.m. to learn about the Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study and manoomin (wild rice) restoration.
Hosted the third Thursday of the month April-September, each event features engaging presentations from local partners and knowledge holders, along with hands-on creative activities, informal conversation, and opportunities to share your questions and perspectives.
Come learn, connect, and be part of the ongoing story of the St. Louis River. Free, all ages are welcome. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Community-Driven Restoration
The St. Louis River Alliance will open the evening with an overview of how the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and regional partners are working to incorporate community input into restoration and recreation projects across the estuary.
Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study Update
Staff from AMI Consulting Engineers will share findings from the ongoing study examining shoreline resilience, habitat protection, and future planning for Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay.Special Guest Speaker: Manoomin (Wild Rice)
A guest speaker (to be announced) will share about manoomin, its cultural and ecological importance, and the role it plays in sustaining the plants, animals, and people connected to the estuary.
This event is in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Lake Superior Headwaters Sustainability Partnership, with generous funding provided by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
