June Water Wednesday (photos)
The St. Louis River Alliance Water Trail Staff (Mikayla Erickson, Annika Frazer, and Karen Sunderman) hosted their fourth Water Wednesday event on June 11th, back at Harrison Community Center (3002 W 3rd St)
Guests arrived, poured a hot coffee from Wussows, and walked through the free information we had to offer before sitting down at the table as a group with a donut from Johnsons Bakery. SLRA promoted their paddling awareness handout from Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, fish consumption advisories, paddling safe in the St. Louis River Estuary, and handed out free National Water Trail maps. Additionally, SLRA was able to give out a limited number of $20 gift cards to Super One Foods for guests who chose to share an anonymous river themed story.
Large topics of conversation included: Hiking local Duluth trails, Dwight’s Point Primitive Camping, low water level, restoration in Mud Lake, and community engagement.
Thank you to all the returning guests, and new guests for joining us for art, and meaningful conversation around the river.
Together we can all make a difference to protect, restore and enhance the St. Louis River.
