Earth Day Clean Up @ Woodstock Bay Landing in Superior (Photos)

Thank you to everyone who joined our St. Louis River Alliance Earth Day cleanup at the beautiful Woodstock Bay Public Landing — a site the Alliance proudly adopted and stewards as part of our ongoing commitment to caring for the estuary.

Volunteers gathered along the shoreline to celebrate Earth Day the best way we know how: by spending time outdoors, enjoying the fresh spring air, and giving back to the St. Louis River Estuary. Together, participants removed a contractors bag of litter.

A special thank you goes to Jodi and the City of Superior for making these events easy to host year after year by providing grabbers, buckets, and gloves. We are grateful to the St. Louis River Alliance volunteers and staff who joined us!

The Alliance adopted Woodstock Bay Landing in 2022 and has since hosted two to three cleanups annually. Located on 28th Street along the edge of the Superior Municipal Forest — home to more than 22 miles of shoreline along the St. Louis River — the site plays an important role in connecting people to the water.

In 2024, the landing underwent a major transformation, including construction of an improved paddle launch, scenic overlooks, a pavilion, vault restroom, enhanced ice fishing access, shoreline stabilization, parking lot improvements, and extensive native plantings. These upgrades have strengthened both public access and ecological health, making Woodstock Bay Landing an even more welcoming gateway to the estuary.
