Steve and Annmarie have been longtime supporters of the St. Louis River Alliance who truly embody the spirit of stewardship and community. Not only do they support our work through their generous financial contributions, but also by proudly share our mission with friends, neighbors, and fellow river lovers. Their belief in protecting, restoring, and connecting people to the St. Louis River makes a real difference in advancing our programs and inspiring others to get involved. They were entered into the kayak drawing through their participation in our Membership Drive—proof that every membership and donation helps move our mission forward.

We are also incredibly grateful to Russ and the entire team at Marine General for donating the kayak and for being steadfast supporters of the Alliance and the St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail. Partnerships like this allow us to celebrate our members while strengthening connections between local businesses and river advocates.

Why Membership Matters

The St. Louis River is more than just a river—it’s the heartbeat of our community, a safe haven for wildlife, and a place where we come together to connect, learn, and explore. Membership support powers the St. Louis River Alliance’s work to protect, restore, and connect our community to this vital water source. From habitat restoration and volunteer stewardship to free public programs and youth education, memberships provide the steady foundation that makes this work possible.

2025 Highlights & Accomplishments

Here are just a few examples of what your membership makes possible:

  • Stewardship & Recreation: Hosted 19 free events connecting hundreds of community members to the river, including Starry Skies, Beginner Fishing, Community Paddles, Full Moon Gatherings, River Orientation, Water Wednesdays, and more.

  • Community Engagement: Collected river stories and reflections through Riverfront Memories gatherings, River Stories, and visitor questionnaires to help guide restoration and stewardship planning.

  • St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail: Managed and promoted the trail, printed the 3rd edition NWT map, hosted paddles and educational programs, and launched a new landing page with resources and itineraries.

  • Manoomin (Wild Rice) Restoration: Celebrated 10 years of planting native wild rice in Kingsbury and Allouez Bays—over 4,000 pounds seeded by volunteers, supported by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and Tribal partners.

  • Piping Plover Monitoring & Habitat Work: Marked our 14th year of monitoring at Wisconsin Point; volunteers removed invasive plants and maintained habitat for future nesting.

  • Area of Concern & River Connection: Hosted four community events along the river, continuing decades of work fostering collaboration between agencies, Tribes, and residents.

Thank you again to Steve and Annmarie for being such wonderful supporters, and to Marine General for their generosity. We hope this new kayak leads to many adventures on the water—and many more memories on the river they help protect.
