Your Input Matters! Help Shape the Future of the 44th Avenue East Waterfront
The St. Louis River Alliance is excited to help lead community engagement efforts for the 44th Avenue East Waterfront Access Project (formerly known as Bunge Dock), a community-driven effort to reimagine a former industrial dock on Allouez Bay as a safe, welcoming public waterfront space.
Check out the new project page here to learn more!
Led by the City of Superior, the project is currently in the planning and conceptual design phase. Over the coming months, project partners will be listening to community ideas, gathering feedback, and helping residents explore the possibilities for the future of this unique waterfront site.
As part of this work, the St. Louis River Alliance will be leading outreach and engagement efforts throughout the Allouez and Itasca neighborhoods and across the broader community. This includes posting informational yard signs, sharing project updates, hosting community conversations, and creating opportunities for residents to share their ideas, memories, and priorities for the site.
One of the first opportunities to get involved will be the upcoming:
Old Dock, New Era Field Tour
Thursday, June 18 | 5–6:30 p.m.
44th Ave E Dock Landing
1 44th Ave E, Superior, WI
Community members are invited to join project partners for a guided walking tour of the site to learn more about the project, explore the waterfront, and share ideas for the future of the space. The event is free and open to the public.
The City of Superior is also collecting feedback through a community survey focused on future public access, recreation opportunities, amenities, and overall experiences people would like to see at the waterfront. Community input gathered during this phase will help guide future concepts and long-term planning for the site.
This project represents an exciting opportunity to reconnect people to the water while honoring the working waterfront history and ecological importance of Allouez Bay and the St. Louis River Estuary. The St. Louis River Alliance is proud to support a planning process centered around community voices, neighborhood connections, and long-term stewardship of the estuary.
We encourage everyone to stay involved, share their ideas, and help shape the future of the 44th Avenue East Waterfront.
