May Water Wednesday (Photos)

The St. Louis River Alliance Water Trail Staff (Mikayla Erickson and Karen Sunderman) hosted their third Water Wednesday event on May 14th at Lincoln Park.
On a brisk, spring morning, we gathered for a clean-up walk in Lincoln Park under the pavilion at 10:00am. After introductions, donuts and coffee, we geared up with safety vests, grabbed clean-up tools, and made a sweep of the park, looping upstream from pavilion to bridge and back. We marveled at the beautiful renovation of the parkway, took pride in the City of Duluth, and shared our favorite signs of the season along the way. Stories and natural wisdom flowed as joyfully as Miller Creek.
We were all happy to see a clean park! As a group we were only able to fill up one large garbage bag, about half full. Laural did end up pulling a shoe out of the creek, and many cigarettes were cleaned up. It was a Wednesday morning well spent as the sun peaked out for all of us, brightening the day as we all said our goodbyes.
Thank you City of Duluth for the equipment, and all of the passionate attendees that made this clean-up possible! We had an amazing time meeting and reconnecting with you all.
Next month (June 11th) we are hosting our second to last Water Wednesday at Harrison Community Center (3002 W 3rd St). Join us from 10:00am-12:00pm on June 11th if you can, and we can help plan you a trip on the St. Louis River and set you up with a National Water Trail Map.
It was a wonderful Water Wednesday, with only TWO more to look forward too.
