The 2001 River Cleanup took place on Saturday, May 19, 2001 at 9:00 AM from Perch Lake to Boys Scout Landing. About 25 volunteers met at Perch Lake and were greeted by good weather and only a few bugs. Everyone worked hard, and by 11:30 about two and three quarters of the dumpster was full and 20 old tires were piled up next to it. The volunteers enjoyed rolls, cookies, and drinks before heading home.

This event was organized by the CAC Environmental Stewardship Committee with logistical support provided by the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, the City of Duluth, and Howard Waste Paper Inc.
