St. Louis River Canoe Tour & Picnic

The 2005 Canoe Tour & Picnic took place on Saturday, September 10, 2005 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the St. Louis River. About 50 people put in canoes and kayaks at Chambers Grove Park in Fond du Lac, MN and took out at the public boat launch in Oliver, WI. Jerome Blazevic gave a safety talk before starting out. The SLRCAC, WLSSD, Alakef Coffee Roasters Inc, and Superior Meats Inc provided a picnic lunch at Boy Scout Landing. Superior Wastewater Treatment Plant donated a rain barrel which was raffled off at the picnic. Rick Gitar and Frank Koshere spoke along way about the wild rice restoration occuring on the river and the plants and animals that inhabit the river.
